Default Illinois parks/preserves/etc
Another thread on the IL boards got me thinking about doing something like this. Ive come up with some areas in IL that I would recommend visiting. Whether youre into hiking, fishing, photography, etc, etc, these places will have something for everyone. Please feel free to add your own places, and please post links and pictures so that we all can get an idea of the area, see if its somewhere we'd be interested in visiting. As time allows, Ill add more places and links. Hopefully this thread will get some people some ideas for weekend getaways and/or help people who are new to the area.

My favorite is Mississippi Palisades. Great campground, and a terrific view in both directions of the Mississippi from Lookout Point. Crossing the bridge in Savanna, the Iowa side has a lot of nature preserves as well. On either side of the river the drive to Dubuque is scenic with several historical places on the way.
