Thank you all for reading and responding.

I would like to get an idea for an upcoming business. I am currently an associate dentist living about 30 mins away from West Frankfort. I was recently approached by a dental hygienist living in West Frankfort and told there is a huge shortage in dental care in this city. As far as I know, there are two dentist currently working in town who are overwhelmed with the amount of patients they have. I considering opening a brand new dental office in West Frankfort to start my own business. However, I am a bit nervous about doing so because I know West Frankfort is not a very large city and I don't know if I would be really needed.

I would like to get an idea from people loving in this town. Do you think there is a need for another dentist in this town? Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated.

We have a whole generation of underemployed and unemployed who desperately need eye and/or dental exams. The $100 eye exam and $200 dental exam might as well be $3M. The indigent will not receive the exams that locate and treat infection, or receive corrective lens.

Thank you for the response. The reason why I considered WF was because I know a dentist that had been practicing there for the last 30 years passed away last year so I thought the town could possibly support a new dental clinic.

I think if the town supported two dentists two years ago, logically it would support two dentists tomorrow. If you want to do this, take out a 1/4 page ad in the local paper to announce your new clinic and welcome new patients. And don't forget to include the important stuff readers need to know. .

The Dentist that passed away, who bought the practice? Wouldn't becoming a partner in an existing practice be the way to go? Maybe one of the dentists is looking at retiring soon.
