Metropolis Illinois
Can someone give me info on the Metropolis Illinois area? I am looking at a house on Lake Diamond. Have been told 2 different stories. One was the Lake was 3 acres and the other the lake was 149 acres. The house is located on Lakeview Dr and has a private dock. THanks

Here is a satellite image of two lakes, one or the other being the lake in question. I'd venture to say in both cases that 3 is far more accurate than 149. Neither is more than 300 feet wide by maybe 400 long.

Diamond Lake - Metropolis, IL
The Diamond Lake Subdivision in Metropolis is one of the nicest neighborhoods . It is located in a rural setting outside the city limits near the Metropolis Country Club. I'm not sure of the number of acres involved - but it is definitely in one of the nicest areas. The lake isn't that big. If I was from another area wanting to move to Metropolis, I would most definitely be impressed. For those who have children, the school system is one that people would be most impressed with.

Metropolis is one of Illinois better downstate towns. As long as you don't mind wearing blue tights with red underwear on the outside you'll like it there.

Diamond Lake is nice but there is a PIG FARM right next to it. It really smells in the summer. Just a bunch of overpriced houses. There is Mann Lake and Holman Lake if you want to live near a lake. There are nice area's off North Ave and Wesley Drive. Look at farmerco.com I live in the country outside of Metropolis. Massac County is kinda spoty with nice areas.....there may be a street of nice houses then a bunch of ran down houses. But if you want a real nice area try Lone Oak or Heath in McCracken County, just outside of Paducah KY. The schools are better and you will find areas where there are neighborhoods of nice houses. If you like more urban living, try downtown/lowertown Paducah. Lots of nice old houses! This area has been building up for past few years with Arist Relocation program. If I didn't have animals that's where I would be. I am from KY and live just over the Ohio River in IL. Either area is great for families.

We rode down there last month and ate at BigDaddy's BBQ....I forgot we forgot our blue tights and underoos......the fine was only two dollars, but they comped us a room at the gambling boat,so it all worked out ok
I like it there, but man...that ice storm last winter sure tore the hell out of the trees.
