I wonder how many of your will get on your high horse about this one, but how many of you out there have heard that Illinois has the most crooked political system in the nation?

Yeah, It does seem that we have a lot of less that honest people in office in this state. Our ex Govener is on his way to the slammer and probably a lot more should ride along with him. Bribes seem to be the norm here anymore. Illinois a hell of a state to get to like. You just have to ignore the crooks and try and get by the best you can. Don't expect much help from the state unless you are in the good old boy set. I voted today but know it will not make a d--n bit of difference in how it will change anything at all, except that we will have another snake in office who will tell us how much he cares about our well being and all along just lining his own nest. I'm 72 years old and keep hoping that our form of government will finally get things right and serve the people with honesty and just tell us poor citizens what the straight p--p really is for once. No lies or deals. Just do what is best for the country and forget your inflated ego's. Democrat and Republican it don't matter they both scheme and plan for themselves and we as citizens just sit back and let the crooks get by with their own back room deals. I hate to see what this old country will come to in 25 or 30 years at the we are going. Our little hometown where I live is now in the hands of the street people. The police are helpless to stop or even slow down the meth and cocane traffic. Kids mock the law and parents help them. When the sun goes down get inside and lock your doors. I keep old betsy handy to welcome any unwanted callers.

I don't know about the rest of the state...but they don't call Chicago 'the city that works' for nothing.
We've got a beautiful city here...you should come check it out sometime. ![]() |

The restaurants in Chicago are A plus, no doubt, and the art deco architecture is fantastic (as well as turn of the century style); but, the State is run out of Chicago and for Chicago.
And not only are the politicians crooked, the mob is still very active there--albiet less than years earlier. Just trust me...I know....but, then again, you would have had to be at my Aunt's funeral to really understand once you saw the incredible floral arrangments from "the boys" as they are called. NYC makes the money and supports all the rest of NY State. Here, the rest of the State supports Chicago and Chicago keeps the money they make. Without getting political on you, once the "Machine" is out of this State, I'll be interested in seeing how much dirt comes up to the surface in Chicago. And, if you are from Chicago, you know what I am talking about. Honest politicians in Illinois? HA! But is Chicago a cool, architecturally fascinating city with some of the world's greatest restaurants with wonderful ambiance--you betcha! On that, we agree totally! Not to mention the fantastic transportation system the city has. Yeah, those are the great things about Chicago. |

Just had to reply to the above statement about the CTA. Just try taking the Red or Blue Line and you will have a ride you won't forget. Yes, the system is great; but, with all the repair going on the train's tracks be prepared to go through hell. Also, the bus driver are extremely rude and - what time schedule.
One thing more try living in Chicago on a normal salary. Daley is kicking the middle class out of Chicago. Try getting a condo through the city program if you can't afford "market rate" for housing if you are white. Oh the schools are still lousy unless you can get into a good magnet school - yea sure! My son was lucky he graduated from Kenwood in 89; but, look at it now. Also having lived in Edgewater for about 10 years before moving to Des Plaines, I know that the police is the city for the most part turn the other way when crime is reported. Just one more thing. Crime from the city is coming out to areas like Niles, Skokie, and Des Plaines thanks to Daley tearing down the projects and "diversity" minus the crime that was already in the northwest suburbs. I could write a book about what is going on here with the quality of life. |

I thought the projects were being moved to the South Side?
Granted, I haven't lived innercity in two years, so am out of the loop on information. I do know one thing, though. After returning there from a 21 year absence, I wouldn't move innercity again. The drivers alone are scarey! Crime innercity is waaaaay to high to be comfortable there. And forget about parking as it is muuuuuch worse now than it was when I lived there in the 70's and early 80's. However, again, the food for such reasonable pricing and wonderful selection really sucked me in...and I could walk around innercity all day and look at the architecture. In reality, I felt the year I lived there that it was sad such a potentially great city was so crime ridden innercity. If it wasn't, I surely would go back snow and all. |

of course illinois is the most crooked state!!! in fact there is just barely enough friendly hospitality in the ENTIRE STATE OF ILLINOIS to fill a boeing 737 jetliner!!!

Why so angry everybody? What would Jesus do?

even worse than bad hospitality, by the way, is the fact that many work bosses in the state of illinois are LITERALLY LIKE DICTATORS TO THE WORKPLACE!!! they treat workers like slaves and like prison inmates, they put you down, they say that "your work" is "not good enough!!!" literally, there are so many bosses like that in illinois that getting a job in illinois can be a VERY SCARY AND FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE!!! and if you happen to have a crappy boss, the work experience can feel like a prison term! and nobody ever does anything to get rid of the bad boss and the bad boss just LITERALLY RULES OVER THE WORK PLACE WITH AN IRON FIST!!! in more than less cases, having a job in illinois is about as close as one can come to working for a dictator!!!

I wonder if Jesus was freezing cold 8 months out of the year?
Personally I think that has a lot to do with the local hostility; that and the traffic of course. |
