I lived and worked in Moline in the early '80s, when the local economy was at a low point. But I've been back a few times since then and it seemed like the situation got a little better every time I visited. It looks like good things are really happening now.

Thanks!!!! Now I'm more homesick than I was before!!!
My wife dragged my sorry behind up here to Jackson, (pop. 3501) Mn back in Nov '06, and I miss the "Big City" life...... The sidewalks here roll up at 5:30pm!!! I was born and raised in Moline/East Moline......... Hows that housing edition on top of 7th St hill where Moline Public Hospital used to be? (I was born in that hosp. back in '64!) |

Are the "Quad City DJs" from these Quad Cities? You know, that obnoxious "Come on Ride the Train" song?

Musicians that hailed from the Quad Cities, IA-IL are legends of jazz music. Both Bix Biederbecke and Louie Bellson may not be big sellers on iTunes today, but they'll be held in much higher esteeem than Hannah Montana or T-Pain ever will be. Last edited by mfrerkes; 06-18-2008 at 07:50 PM.. |

The big story for Moline's downtown, however, is the new Kone tower which will break ground soon. It will be an 18-story tower with Class A office space and eight floors of high-rise condominiums. There's also proposed loft-style housing for a site right across the street from where Kone is building. Add in the LeClaire renovation, and downtown Moline has seen considerable housing gains in and near downtown over the last 10 years. |
