Hey, the hot spell is over, who could despise today's beautiful blue skies, 80 degree high, and moderate humidity?? I escaped the heat wave by going to Door County, WI, where the highs were in the upper 60s and low 70s, with lows in the low 50s. When we pulled up to the house there, you could see your breath and we all had to wear sweatshirts. Crazy! Daytime temps were absolutely heavenly though, couldnt have been any better.

Steve, Did any of the storms affect you guys in Illinois this evening? We were hit with 4" of rain here. I know some tracted through NW IL.

We are still under tornado watch, flash flood watch, and flood warning in the Chicago area. We did not get anything as of yet in the last 24 hours. However the radar looks like it is coming. The eastern edge of the system appears to be around Rockford right now. It should be here in an hour or less.

It was 91 Thursday with a low of 73 in the city. The heat spell had one last gasp. It will be back in about 10 days IMO.

Got some rain last night, maybe around an inch. Lots of thunder and some decent wind gusts, thats about it. We were under a tornado watch until 2am this morning, but once again nothing spawned. The Fox River is swollen and cresting a bit, but not too terribly bad. Nice and cool this morning, bank temperature readings showed 70 degrees, not sure how accurate they are though. Supposed to reach 80 today. Reached 92 in parts of the burbs yesterday, but it didnt feel that hot, which is odd. Normally when its that hot Im miserable, which wasnt the case yesterday. I actually played a little street hockey around 8pm last night and I was totally comfortable, even with 85 degree temps.

It was definitely very warm yesterday, Im glad its gone. I came back from WI on Tuesday to picture perfect weather (and Wednesday too), then Thursday got all hot and sticky again. Today looks nice, 80 degrees with a 60 degree low. A/C is going off tonight!
But look at this forecast... mmmm
Chicago Tribune | Weather
Low humidity, nice cool temps. While the rest of the country slaves under the sun's brutal heat, we'll soak it up with those perfect temps.

yes the weather does look heavenly next week- YAY! That makes me happy, because I felt that we hadn't gotten too many those sunny and 70s days this year.

We've had several sunny and 70 degree days, many partly sunny 70 degree days, and several on-and-off rainy 70 degree days.

What a beauty of a day. Perfect temps, perfect humidity levels, perfect skies, perfect night temps. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Got burned to a crisp today while hiking though, that kinda sucks.
