The real fact of the matter remains: Chicagoans get laid more than people in Arizona. When you can't do much outside when it is cold there are only a few things to do indoors and getting it on is one of them. That is why we do not post much in the winter. We are all getting our freak on.
Meanwhile people in Arizona somehow find the time in "perfect weather" to post on the Chicago Forum and talk about how cold it is in Chicago while it is "so nice" in Arizona. We are getting laid in Chicago while you people are remembering what it was like to get laid.
Bye-bye.

Hahaha!
I flat-out refused to move to Arizona when we had the chance a couple of years ago. Yeah, it's cold today--damn cold--but I don't do 120 degree weather.
I had hypothermia once, and I bet it was a lot more pleasant than heat stroke.

Sure it's frigid out right now, but having a real winter with snow and a change of seasons has been great, in my opinion. It won't stay this frigid for too long and will moderate some but will still be cold to some people. But folks still get out and walk here in the city...you dress for the cold but it doesn't stop you from living your life. I had fun today with my friends..we bundled up and met for brunch and had a nice time...it was sunny and very cold but it didn't stop many people as the place was crowded. We then bundled up again and walked to the movie theatre, throwing a few snow balls at each other as we made our way through the streets and to the theatre for our movie. You can't be a hermit here and hide inside just like you can't be like that when it's broiling in the southern US during the summer.
The past summer here was warm to hot on a few occasions and it was actually nice not having the endless 98 to 103 afternoon temps (it was 108 and up in parts of TX this past summer) day in and day out for 4-5 months like I'm used to enduring. We actually had nights where we could open the windows and sleep without the a/c...wow, that's impossible in most places in the south after about May. When it was really hot and already 90 degrees by 11am down south, you just knew that you shouldn't be out long term in the sun after about 1 or 2pm due to heat stroke or sunburn, heat advisories, etc etc. Any outside yard work had to be done early in the morning so there were plenty of times I was out cutting grass at 8 am on the weekend trying to beat the sun and the heat. In any case, depending on where you live and the season, one part of the country is either out and about while the other is locked inside or vice versa so really neither has a lock on better weather. It's all subjective and about what you like or what you're used to growing up. You just can't let it dominate you and take control...you've got to make the best of it no matter which area of the country you live.

I agree, 940, very well put. Making the best of it no matter which area of the country you live is what it's all about. Growing up here in Illinois, I'm accustomed to this wintry weather and wouldn't live anywhere else; i.e., a warmer climate. That's just my choice. I've been to warmer areas in the winter and they're fine, too, but I choose to live here.
Despite the frigid weather, I attended a family function yesterday and we all bundled up and laughed at the cold.
Today we're supposed to have a heat wave--10 degrees, a 2-digit temperature day!
More snow is predicted from Tuesday to Wednesday, maybe 3 to 5 inches in the Chicagoland area.

Nah! I think you guys are too busy stuffing your face to build up your blubber to do anything else. After all, you need some sort of insulation to combat those frigid temps.
By the time June rolls around and you guys wake up from your hibernation/binging season they have to knock down walls to get you out!
By then the only thing that would give you a second glance would be a penguin

Now if you were to dedicate yourself to your girlfriend/wife the way you have dedicated your life to the city-data forums, then maybe.
At the rate you're going maybe the root cause of your cranky attitude isn't the lousy Chicago weather afterall. Maybe you are compensating for the lack of..........
Now, back to the weather. I hear you're going to thaw out a bit, they have your favorite ice pellets on the menu for tomorrow....yum yum

Bet you wish that you were in AZ now!
Most 'Zonies don't do 120 either. You must have AZ confused with Death Valley on the CA and NV border. AZ climate changes with elevation levels.
I would imagine neither hypothermia or heat stroke would be pleasant.
What an odd comment. The smart thing to do, would be not to place yourself into circumstances where either one would happen.

It was my first time skiing. My husband and I got separated, and I was tired and cold trying to find him. I sat down in the snow and fell asleep. It wasn't unpleasant at the time ... I just felt very tired and sleepy. Ski patrol took me to one of their little stations and made me do jumping jacks in my long underwear. I thought they were overreacting until the real feeling came back into my hands and feet, and no, that wasn't fun.
Still, I wouldn't rather be in Arizona, sorry. I have friends from Scottsdale and Gilbert, all of whom tell me about the horrible heat. I don't like the heat. It gives me migraines and makes my boobs sweat. Boob sweat makes me cranky.
The landscape here is absolutely lovely. I likes trees and lakes better than rocks and dirt. I know Arizona has some beautiful places, but I just prefer forest to desert.

And to be really honest, what surprises me most, seeing that AZ's schools are rated worst in the nation, is that this you actually know how to use a computer to reply to us. Looks like the whole "no child left behind" act is really working, everyone! Give AZ a hand! WOOT
