I was up there a few weeks ago, and it was around -25 at O'Hare with the windchill, waiting for my shuttle ride to the car rentals, BRRRR. After a couple days, I got used to it and it "warmed" up to around 20 above, so I was actually peeling off my top layer and only had a sweatshirt and sweater on (not my jacket), in 20 degree weather! This from a guy who's lived in FL for over 10 years now. It didn't take me long to get accustomed to the cold, mentally, accept it for what it is and it was actually bearable, then I flew back "home" to FL and it felt like an oven, even if it was only around 60 degrees F. Talk about subjecting your body through thermal shock.

It will be better in two weeks. I predict higher than average temps for the remainder of winter after Feb 14th.

Methinks we are going to have a higher than normal summer in terms of temps. It is about time for a hot one again. I think about every ten years we get a good hot one and around every ten years in between the really hot ones we get a decently hot one.

12 this morning light NW wind wind chill is -2.
AF,we had one of those super hot,dry summers like you are talking about down here year before last.... I usually have to mow my yard about every 5 days, but that year I probably did every 16-18 days and it really didn't need the grass cut, just hardy weeds....fields that I'd cut 3 + round bales per acre per cutting ended up producing 1 bale per acre for the entire year

Dudes, this sunshine is starting to almost get on my frickin nerves. And speaking of the sun... you can also start to feel the sun's warmth a lot more, too. Normally in deep winter it shines brightly but doesnt feel warm. But today, even with way-below-normal temps, it was still melting snow because it is getting more intense.

Well of course when I say "we", I mean Northern Illinois where I live. I have no doubt what you are telling me about your weather is true. But since I do not have the experience in the part of the state you do; I will refrain from predicting your weather!
Rainfall and drought stats are a complete different ball of wax!
