I've only been to two Cubs games and neither was by choice. The first time was for a mandatory work thing. The second time...well, I was pregnant, hormonal, and not thinking straight when my husband asked me to go with him.

In all honesty, unless you're trying to pick up somebody, and unless you get there super early to get a seat, the bleachers at Wrigley are a tough place to watch the game. I'd much rather be in the lower boxes somewhere. Even this Sox fan admits that it is a wonderful place to watch a game from down there.

I usually get seats, 3rd base line, lower level (when theyre available). Best place to watch the game IMO.

If I was indeed Bartman, I would have moved out of state for fear of my life.

As you get closer to Chicago or St. Louis, the split between the two respective teams becomes greater. I'd have to agree that the Sox fan base doesn't extend much beyond the South Side and I'm fine with that - few things perturb me more than bandwagon fans.
I'm betting that may also have something to do with the minor league system. Springfield (yes, the IL one) used to be home to the AAA (then demoted to A) farm team for the Cardinals at Lanphier Park. Peoria still has a minor league Cubs team. That may account for the sway to the Cubs or Cardinals side of the fence, proximity to the metro areas of St. Louis & Chicago aside.
