Default Looking for horse property

We are being relocated from Denver to the Chicago area and are looking for at least an acre. We need to stay under $300,000 but are prepared to be an hour to 1 1/2 hours from the airport. Is this even possible?? I've seen one or two places but definately not many!

Any ideas on areas to look or agents to talk to?

Thanks-

I'd look in Kenosha County WI if I were you. IMO it's the most likely place to find open land cheap enough for what you're looking for while still providing relatively timely access to the airport courtesy of the Tri-State Tollway (and by "the" airport I presume you mean O'Hare).

There is a house zoned for horses in my neighborhood right now that just about fits your description.Contact ReMax for land in western Elgin.Horse property within PUD zoning is grandfathered in and horses are not allowed on the smaller properties in Kane County after the homeowner stops using the property for horses. There are only two left in our neighborhood.Only one is for sale. It's possible to find others too in other neighborhoods.

Any chance it's for sale for less than $300K? It's hard enough to find standard properties out there for that kind of money, much less a horse property...

Listed for 389,000.It's a small ranch house on 1.3 acres. You need to contact ReMax.That's the sign out front.Like all homes for sale around here,it's been on the market for awhile now.

That's a tough one. Try Marengo. About 1 hr. 20 minutes from airport.

Actually I'd bet Morengo to O'Hare is well under an hour unless traffic is awful. But even during rush hour, it's usually not bad that far west until right as you approach the airport. Might be a struggle staying in your price range out there though.

I work near the airport and believe me, it's not well under an hour commute to Marengo.

But it's a very nice rural area.
