I ask because there seems to be a consistent stream of requests for Rockford information (or nearby towns) or general discussions about it. Right now nearly 25% of the threads on the first page of the Illinois forum are Rockford Specific. So... who thinks we should start a Rockford-area subforum?

Completely.

Or maybe just a "mid-sized" Illinois city forum for all cities that aren't Chicago are part of its metro. There have been lots of Rockford posts recently. I'm a little suprised.

The fact that there are a lot of Rockford threads at the present time is just an anomaly. Usually there are very few. The reason why they stand out is the Illinois forum is not very popular. As I look right now, 9:40pm, there are only 11 threads that have posts with today's date.
Except for the Chicago area, not that many people want to move to Illinois. |

Why not? I think it would be a good thing.

I don't know about Rockford, but I would like to see a MetroEast forum for the area outside of St. Louis. We are a pretty big area, and many of the MetroEast posters have to post on the St. Louis, MO forum.

Yeah, I often wondered if it was possible to put the same sub-forum in two different forums so that the STL sub-forum shows up both in the Missouri and Illinois parent forums (and similarly so the KC sub-forum can be accessed from both the MO and KS parent forums)...

As of right now, I still don't think the number of postings are enough for a Rockford forum, but the thought is a good one. Good points also about the St. Louis Illinois burbs as well, again, I don't think there's enough posts to warrant its own sub-forum. But the metro idea is interesting, obviously everything is set up here by state so there's probably a fair amount of cross-posting on similar topics. I'll bring up the topic amongst the other mods and see what others think.
