Anyone can see what the license plates on the street are, you don't have to be a genius to figure that out. Besides which, the majority of the houses in the downtown area of Lake Geneva, where I live, don't have any teenagers or drinkers as a general rule. Almost all of the people are middle aged to elderly and rarely leave their houses, let alone go out and party. Therefore, they aren't the people stumbling back to their homes or cars.
As a teenager in Lake Geneva, I can safely tell you I have never been to a party in town because they don't really exist there. It's not a safe idea-not only because the cops would be very likely to catch you, but as well there are too many tourists-you could get yourself into some trouble. But if you're referring to Wisconsinites from other parts of the state-it's actually quite rare. Most people from Wisconsin don't even know where Lake Geneva is, much like most people from Lake Geneva, know nothing about other places in Wisconsin. Probably some deficiency in our geography classes, however, the majority of Wisconsinites seem to go more north for their vacations rather than going south. Again though there is no excuse or even mention of these people trashing the town which is a major issue. You clearly have no excuse for it and therefore my point is quite valid and gives Wisconsinites a very good reason to hate Illinoisans. As for this "Delfield" I have no idea where that is, and I'm guessing it doesn't exist, haha. I know of a Delevan? Is it Delevan that you speak of...? |

I agree with other posters who point out the sour, nasty bitterness of 'some' Wisc. people is do to nothing more then downright jealousy. Its been pointed out to me when we had a lake home in Door county. How else can one explain the bizarre generalizations of a HUGE state of individual people of all kinds, from all over the world, neighboring Wisconsin ? Its hard to believe that an educated, forward thinking person would be so ignorant. I am glad my Wisconsin friends and relatives (and my Wisc born husband) arent prejudice by a lic. plate.

Your 'case' is as strong as your generalizations are valid. By the way, my cousin was molested by two men from Wisconsin in the early 70s. That proves all Wisconsin men must be child molesters by your chain of logic ![]() |

Delafield is a wealthy community along I-94 in Waukesha county west of downtown Milwaukee. Come on man. If you live in Lake Geneva, you should know the area. Is is less than an hour north of you.

Or are you just assuming that all drunks you see are vacationers and Illinoisans. |

You people are taking this a bit extreme aren't you? haha, I was joking about Delfield-or Delafield or whatever it's called-although I don't know where it is, I have faith that it exists and I could probably look it up but I'll take your word for it. I was mocking the way you assumed I was lying when I was talking about the car accidents and about well-my sister being hit. It's a bit shameless the way you attack people.
And I know who you were talking about. They're people walking back to their cars lovey, where else would they be going? Not sure if you're familiar with Lake Geneva, but there's only about two blocks of area in which to go. They're people walking into their cars. And although "correlation does not always equal causation" and all that, this is more or less a case of "2+2=4". It's common sense. I realize that the reason for Wisconsinites to hate Illinoisans was a harsh generalization but to be honest, I don't really give a ****. That's what this is supposed to be about isn't it? Wisconsin folks hating Illinoisans or whatever? I feel that is a valid reason to dislike people from Illinois visiting Wisconsin, I really should have put "visiting" and I'd apologize, but I don't actually feel sorry for the minor slip in words. I don't hate Illinoisans personally-though you all seem to hate Wisconsinites for whatever reason. In fact, I was born in Illinois and worked in Chicago for a while when I was in middle school. If you couldn't assume what I meant by Wisconsinites disliking Illinoisans then-well, you should feel bad about yourself, haha. As a side note, don't you people feel a bit silly ganging up on a 17-year-old girl? Not that I can't hold my own, because I feel I am. But I am assuming you are all older people, since that's usually how these sort of internet things go, and well-let's assume you're all in your early thirties. Doesn't that seem a bit silly? Besides, why is this such a big deal for you people? So someone doesn't like you-boo-****ing-hoo, get over it. If you feel you're being mistreated in Wisconsin, don't come here. Trust me, none of the locals will miss you. And Ed Gein? C'mon, I know what you're getting at because of my "horrendous gross generalization" as that must be some sort of blasphemy, "what!? Gross generalizations in response to a post making similar assumptions concerning gross generalizations?! Ridiculous!" Yeah. But for reals, Illinois gave birth to people like John Wayne Gacy jr. and Richard Speck. Gein was only proven to have killed 2 people-he was just a creepy grave digger, and although he was a scary son of a *****, at least he was creative eh? |
