... in Dekalb
I was listening to 1360 am out of Dekalb today. There was talk of turbines being erected in Dekalb County and talk about the noise they create. Also, people (households) living within a certain area were to receive $1000 dollars a year for 30 years. See the listing below for more info.

In my opinion if you look at the country's energy needs to 2050 our only realistic bet for adequate base load power (while cutting carbon emissions) is to deploy more nuclear reactors. Anything else is a dream.
Wind and solar though are important sources and need to be part of the mix and continue to mature. Wind energy has some promise but its overall potential impact on the energy budget is somewhat limited, and I'm sure there will be many unforeseen problems if it is every deployed at the massive scale necessary to have a significant impact.

Those things would be great assets to Comed along the Chicago shoreline. Winds blow inland off Lake Michigan some 50% of the time (hence the reason for horrible spring weather or more like lack of springlike weather) Winds just about daily turn off Lake Michigan as nearby land heats up, air is forced to rise basically creating a vacuum and sucking in cold air off the lake due to a created pressure inbalance... The greater this inbalance is, the greater the wind speed meaning more electricity can be created.

that is the typical spring pattern but in summer and winter lake winds are not unusual but they are definitely not the norm. Are you sure it adds up to 50% total over the year?
