HI....I have lived in Settlers Ridge since November of 2006. We love our house and wonderful neighbors...we are hoping kimball hill will actually build the clubhouse/pool..I have my fingers crossed!!! The housing market has been terrible everywhere..but they do seem to be getting busy again..I have noticed 6-7 cars at a time in the sale office parking lot by the models. If things pick up and they do everything that was promised...clubhouse, soccor fields more trails etc then this will be an awesome community..it just takes time. They do have 3 parks right now..we are by the largest park in the neighborhood and my children love to play there! Have you looked into Settlers Ridge???

The new community development director for the village of sugar grove lives in settler's ridge. he used to work for Kimball Hill. I know that the village is working hard to make sure that things work out financially for kimball hill. I did see an article last week that whoever holds their line of credit, gave them another month or so to arrange payments.

I have purchased a house in Settlers Ridge and it will be done late June. We are very excited and even more excited now that you confirmed it’s a nice place to live. I seams wonderful, almost too good to be true, that is why I put a post out there for any current residents. We were very worried back in January when all the negative publicity started coming out but as time goes on things seem to be improving. I thought things would just go downhill but things truly do seem better. Although the subdivision is a long way away from having the clubhouse and pool, we are optimistic and look forward to the day its done. I think we are really going to like Sugar Grove.

Well, it looks like we are soon to become Settlers of the Ridge. Kimball accepted our offer and we may be signing this weekend. (If anyone has a good reason we shouldn't, holler quick!) It appears that if you work anywhere near the I-88 corridor, this is the best deal going, hands down.
After fixing up a 100 yr old house in Aurora's Historic Tanner District for the last three years, it is time to take a break and have some babies (?)... one can inhale only so much drywall dust. **If you know anyone in the market for a charming, stately, freshly painted Late Queen Anne 3 bdrm home this spring, let us know! We have worked so hard to give her a new lease on life, I will cry big crocodile tears when we leave her. (Am already feeling quite guilty as we plot to abandon her for a muuuch younger model). Thank you all for your kind & hopeful words about the Settlers Ridge development. I have it on good word from some seasoned Sugar Grovers, that after some construction on Main St. is finished(?) they will indeed build an overpass so we don't have to be woken up by train whistles while we sleep. Until that time, thank heavens for modern insulation and new windows with tight seals. (Which are the two primary reasons we're leaving our historic home...) P.S. If you are a current Ridge Settler, please plant some great trees in your yard ; ) |

Kimball Hill is supposed to build the bridge over the tracks at Gordon road as part of their annexation agreement. considering their current financial situation, I would not be looking for that to happen anytime too soon. The village is moving ahead with a quiet zone, however, that does not include the gordon road crossing right now. it will be at Dugan and Main Street. the quiet zone construction on main street is supposed to start this spring!

No..I think you are making a great decision..its a nice place to live..especially if you are thinking of children..there are alot of kids here in settlers ridge. Did you purchase the ingham victorian model??? If so...I loved that house with all the details and moldings the builder put in. Good luck with your move and selling your "old and charming house"..which I love too..however a new house is much easier upkeep..you just need to add your personal touches!! I am right with you on the p.s. to let others know to put in nice trees......We have put in quite a few..I keep telling my neighbor friends even if everyone just put in one it beautifies the area for everyone!!!
