Grew up in Sangamon county. The big city in the area is Springfield. Lots of history. Lots of gov't and white collar jobs. There are a fair number of things to do in the area and tons of places to eat, but we tended to always go to St. Louis or Chicago for more interesting things such as concerts, shows, shopping etc. Following trails along the Sangamon river was fun, and it made the terrain a little more diverse than the surrounding cornfields.

I'm born/raised in Cook County. Its pretty much the best county in Illinois of 5.3 million people. Everything you can find is in Cook C and plus the big city of Chicago is here. We have public transpotation( Metra, El, CTA etc.). We have the huge lake towards the east with boat riding and people around the beaches in the summer. Cook County is home of the currently tallest building in the US; the Sears Tower. And also home to some of the craziest sports fans you will ever find in this country.lol

you are right on the money with that one, i cant picture myself living some where else in the state, but then again i havent been one to travel around the state, im sure if i did i would quite enjoy it, the farthest i go is kankakee.
