The officer housing got turned into private townhouses, the air strip now handlss private plane traffic, and I think the fire department still uses it for training? The hangars are basically abandoned and empty. Much of the rest of it is now an air museum.

Isurus is on a distinguished road
There's a lower income/****ty part of Champaign, basically anywhere near Bradley or south of I-74. Otherwise Champaign is a fantastic place to live and I've found nothing but nice people. I live off of Staley and Springfield, and it's a very nice dog-friendly place. Tons of nice neighbors. Lots of nice poeple in Champaign, and good shopping.
