Has anyone had problems with building codes or getting the Il state loans (I-Loan or Down Payment Plus) to build on ag zoned acreage? I want a farm, but as we all know up here, that is 4 times as expensive as it should be! There is a job in Decatur we might apply for and move again, so I was wondering about in that area, too, as it is less expensive. I'm thinking SE of Decatur in between there and Mattoon. Thanks!

I live in the Springfield area on a small 'farm', originally from the Decatur area. Still have family there, including a farmer. What type of farm are you wanting? Livestock? Grain? How many acres? I don't think you'll have a problem with zoning as long as it is not a mobile or modular home. PM me if you want contact information for that area.
