Default Fun Illinois question 3/20/08

If you had to retire in this state, where would you retire? And to spice things up a bit, you cannot choose what town/city you currently live in.

Im gonna have to go with Galena. Love the area, love the history, love the topography, love the wildlife, etc.

Default Retiring in Illinois

If the day ever comes, I would say that I would probably retire in one of the nicest areas of the greatest city in our country, Lincoln Park, Chicago.

We like the location we are in now, but also are considering:
Upper northwest counties = Galena to Savannah along the mississippi. OR southern Illinois is nice too, Carbondale area.

If the taxes (among other issues) keep going the way they are, we may be forced out of this state to another, within the Midwest of course. We are also not sure we like our current county (will not name), having dealt with them for the last 16 years, they really have worn us out.

Fox Lake region. My actual preferred retirement location is lake country up in Wisconsin; Fox Lake area is as close as you can get to Wisconsin both literally and in terms of environment/atmosphere.
