Default Fun Illinois question 3/24/08

What is, in your opinion, the best musical artist to ever come out of Illinois?

Mine? 3-way tie between the Smoking Popes, Chevelle, and Disturbed.

I realize my age makes me kind of a drag but I've got to go with "The Buckinghams".

I know was musician before he moved to Chicago - but he mostly made his claim to fame here because of Chess Records: gotta go with Muddy Waters.

Hmm... leaning toward Alison Krauss. She's without a doubt the most award-winning if that counts for anything. 21 grammy awards is one hell of an achievement in anyone's lifetime... but to have that many under your belt while you're still in your 30s is just mind-blowing.

Probably Curtis Mayfield or Herbie Hancock. Maybe Benny Goodman.

Screeching Weasel. The band that inspired the Popes.

I submit "My Brain Hurts" as evidence.
