about 35 miles west of Springfield.
Its one of those college towns that have 19 century structure kinda like Geneva.

Jacksonville is a gorgeous town with two small colleges and lots of beautiful old architecture. There are also some really great rural towns in the vicinity such as Bluffs, etc. Great place.

Looks quite nice. What are the neighborhoods like? Run down? Maintained nicely?

You have the town square of course.
The neighborhods are decent old as you move away, the modern homes are.
North of town toward the east, you have that run down kinda feel but so bad and crime is very low if any.
The middle of town toward the main roads like 104 is the business strip which is good too.
Its just an old town.

I lived in Jacksonville for two years, in an apartment in the old high school. That was the neatest place I ever lived. I loved that apartment and loved the building. It still smelt like "school".
Jacksonville is a lovely town. I enjoyed living there.
