You know you were a teen in the 80's in Peoria if....
you went to Second Chance (Stage 2) every sunday night for teen night
you cruised main down by Bradley up and down on a saturday night
You remember Agatucci's pizza
you remember the cinnamon rolls at Jumers
you crave a coney dog special or tenderloin sandwich from Lou's
talking christmas tree at Bergners
"parking" on grandview drive
partying at the strip mines
drag racing on the rural roads near Dunlap
going to Tanners to pick apples and pumpkins
double steakburger and an orange freeze from Steak and Shake
Monicals!!!!
Emo's
Getting your hair done at Plum Pretty Pretty Parlor in Peoria Heights
the Heights woodpecker
Vonochan's train car restaurant, eating in the train
driving up to Oakbrook to shop because there was nothing but Bergners and there wan't much to choose from
shopping at The Whale (a co-ed prep shop) near vonochans
going downtown to Alexanders steak house
Jim's steak house
Famous Recipe chicken with honey on the biscuits
swimmins at Twin Lakes in Pekin
The Fair.....and bad 80's concerts like Peaches and Herb
Willow Knolls Country Club
Aaahhh... memories

Now let's really go back to old car dealers in Peoria... "Don't be skeered of old Paul Beard, He ain't had any learning, He's as happy as can be... selling good cars naturally!" At least that's how I remember the jingle.

Don't remember Paul Beard, but I do John Bearce! I never bought a car on Parkway.
Emo's is gone.. He sold out to some guy who is trying to reproduce the "dogs" and failing. Trying to find a place to park at Emo's in the summer was a nigthmare.
The VOP train is gone. It was moved to Wheels of Time museum.
If you thought Bergner's was the only place to shop, you didn't know much about Peoria.
Willow Knolls Country Club is the new kid on the block. There were three older when it was built.
Pottstown Meats in Pottstown had the best small individual pizzas ever made.
Davis Brother's pizza now in Peoria, and the roller rink now in Pekin, began in downtown East Peoria where the police station is before 1950.
Prooctor Hospital opened its doors on Spring Street. In the 1980's it was a Catholic senior retirement apartments. By then Proctor was located where it is today.
Compareed to 1950 there isn't much left to Caterpillar in the Peoria area.

Neil Norton had a commercial on in the 80's that closed with "Bring your wife in and we'll dicker!"

The commercial eventually was stopped being shown and I'm not sure why.
