I have a question About Streator, IL (Oak Lawn, Ottawa: houses, find a job)

I am a Teenager who has grown up in Lockport IL, and Oak Lawn IL, and has alot of friends who live in streator and goto streator High school, I have heard from people that it is a so called "Prison Town" and its full of mephanphetamine addicts, and i want to know if theres any truth to this, because i want to move there, but i need solid information to do so. I hear that there is nothing around there, and living in Oak Lawn, with places everywhere, it might take some getting used to, I just want to know what people who live there have to say about this town, Even if i have about 30 Good Friends who goto high school there. I need some solid facts. Thank You very Much.

Alot of my Slovak family lives there, my Mom grew up there in the 50s and I have alot of friends there. I love Streator.
But I will warn you, you wont find a job there. You will have to travel to Ottawa or Lasalle to work. I cant think of one place you can work there, other than the nominal fast food work.
HOuses are CHEAP only 30-50 thousand. Up to 100 in the nicest of houses. No more than that, unless they are insane and dont really want to sell.
I live in Ottawa. So, wont you be my neighbor?
