"8. Hundreds of other things I take for granted every day but wind up missing whenever I'm away from the state"
SOO TRUE.
When I lived there it is like whatever.
But now that I don't live in Illinois I miss everything!!

Agreed, I was abducted and forced to live in Texas for a year--I was so very happy when I got to come home!!! I did like Dallas--but I don't think anyone who was born in Texas actually lived in Dallas.

hmm. I understand where the lonley chicago guy is coming from.
The truth is I think i am leaving the chicago area and may possibly come back later. If I come back to illinois, I may move downstate instead of staying in the chicago area. Great place to raise a family in my opinion, would be anywhere around Bloomington or Champain.
Anyway, favorite things about Illinois, as I leave..
the natural beauty of the chain o lakes area (not the speeding boats and drinking bikini clad, permed ladies and their male counterparts) but places like Chain o lakes state park, volo bog, glacier park, and the fox valley.
ISU - what a great place to spend some college years, great people, supportive enviornment, fun.
The natural beauty of the flat rolling land and the big sunsets. (downstate)
Lake Michigan
Chicago proper - hands down...FOOD
There are some things I wont miss, as the Chicago area is not fun if you dont have good people to share it with, it can be a cold place if you cant afford it as well, and scary.
On that note, also enjoyed classes at UIC and how they use the cities museums and culture as learning tools in the classroom. Its a great place to learn about the city and the world.

Has anyone tried the frozen Gino's pizza? I seen it at a walmart for 8 bucks but have not tried it yet. Out of the four surrounding supercenters only one of them here carries it. It might not be everywhere but I was just curious.
