Default Cable/Internet in Champaign, IL?

Hi. Just a quick question. I am moving to Champaign this summer and don't know who to look at for cable and internet providers.

I have always been with Comcast but saw on their Web site they do not have service in Champaign. I want cable and high speed internet. Does anyone know of any good bundles offered around the area. THANKS!

Comcast actually is a provider in Champaign now, but it's a recent change so they probably haven't updated their website. They used to be called Insight and their phone number is 217-384-2500. High speed internet (via cable modem) is around $50 ish per month, and basic cable is anywhere from $10 - $30, I believe. They do offer discounts if you choose multiple services.

AT&T offers DSL internet service along with satellite TV, and they also offer package deals based on the more services you choose (including telephone if you are looking into that, as well). If you are living somewhere that will allow you to have a satellite dish, obviously you could also try Direct TV or Dish Network.

Insight tossed us all over to Comcast. Yay ... not. Well, it hasn't been completely terrible, just slower.

Angry Comcast Is The Worst

Comcast's customer service is the worst and I would not recommend it to anyone. My phone went down last Wednesday afternoon and I am still waiting for it to be fixed (thank goodness for cellular) -- it is now Sunday! I spent most of Thursday and Friday on the telephone with Comcast (burning my cellular minutes) to no avail. Supposedly, someone is coming out to repair my phone tomorrow sometime between 8 am and 8 pm (I have heard this twice before, so I am not optimistic).

If anyone knows of any other providers who offer bundled cable, television and internet services, please let me know because I am shopping. At the moment, customer service is high on my list!

Buyer beware if you opt for Comcast -- they are great about getting people hooked up but if you have a problem it may be days before you see a technician!

Insight was definitely better than Comcast, that's for sure.

As far as I know, AT&T is the only other company in the Champaign-Urbana area offering the type of bundle you are requesting. They have packages with telephone, DSL internet, and satellite TV.

Have you considered separate services rather than bundling? You can get home phone service for about 20 bucks through Vonage as long as you have high speed internet of some sort. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I really don't want to go to Comcast because I am with them now where I currently live and they are just awful. The services go down all the time and they have terrible customer service; when services go down they say it's my fault and it takes everything to get them to come out and fix it. I do NOT want home phone service as I am using only a cell. Therefore, the only bundle I want is for cable and high speed internet. I will check with AT&T.
