I'm planning a trip to Illinois later this year and since I'm taking a different route than usual, where are the best spots to eat near I-70. I'll have some time to "wander around", so consider any good spots within a half hour or so from the interstate to be worth mentioning. If it's REALLY good, I'll travel a little further - lol
17th Street Barbeque in O'Fallon is on my list, even though it's somewhat out of the way. I've also heard the Big Weenie at Lake Shelbyville has a good Chicago style Italian Beef sandwich and I'm planning on finding out for myself. Where else should I plan on eating? ![]() |

Fast Eddies in Alton - legendary cheeseburgers, or so I've heard.

Check out Richards Farm Restaurant in Casey. Really good steaks.

Diner's, Drive Ins and Dives are fine with me (and one of my favorite TV shows - lol). Some of the best eats can be found in some of the older places that may be a little "beat up" but have stood the test of time
