It used to be a huge beach where you could rent rowboats and there was a small island in the middle of the lake. There was a playground and snack area. I believe it was in Lake County. Does anyone know if there is still a beach there? It was my favorite beach back in the 1970s

Cedar Lake is in Lake County, Indiana and it is still present! In fact, it's a very active site still for boating, tubing, and lakeside activities. You should definitely check it out! I really enjoy the Lighthouse Restaurant and Sundaes on the Lake if you need any food recommendations.
You might consider posting this in the Northwest Indiana forum as Cedar Lake is still an active community.

Cedar Lake is also in Lake County Illinois, confusing for sure. There are several beaches that the Lake Villa Park Dist runs. Lehmann Park is the main facility.

That is confusing - I had no idea! It's bad enough there's two counties with the same name, but now two lakes?!
