Default Cycling in Southern Illinois

Does anyone have recommendations for good places to live and be able to commute by bike in Illinois. Peoria and south of there would be preferable. I know this is a long shot, but ya never know right?
Thanks

I would say Carbondale probably is the only city you could bike to work in in southern Illinois.
