My dad in Iowa City wrote me this morning. He asked if I felt it in Chicago. He said he woke up all the sudden and everything was shaking, and all the stuff in the bedroom was making a lot of noise as it shifted around.

FYI: An aftershock of magnitude 4.5 occurred around 10:15 a.m. so we may feel this one for a little while longer! |

We felt the 4.2 aftershock near Peoria strongly and folks who were up at 4:30 certainly felt the initial quake. Interesting stuff.

I just talked to my Mom on the phone and she lives in Bridgeport, Ill.-
Next door to Lawrenceville,Ill. She said it woke her up this morning with the bed shaking. She jumped up, and alot of the pics had fallen off the walls. She said her house plants were turned over with dirt all over the floor, and a few of her knick- knacks were busted. She said that it felt like someone was outside, rocking the trailer back and forth. She said that they have already had two more, after the big one (5.2) and they are expecting more later. ![]() |

I'm in Schaumburg just west of Chicago and it woke me up easily. It sounded like a skateboard does when it hits the joints in a smooth sidewalk. One click after another along with slight vibration for about 20 seconds. I do not have any carpet which makes it a bit easier to notice.

I woke up at 4:37 and my bed was shaking and the shower door across the hall was shaking, too. It was scary because until we saw the news ten minutes later, we had no idea what it had been. I seriously thought that my bed was posesed by some ghost.
I am here in the suburbs, and most people I talked to today had no clue about it until I mentioned it to them. |
