Which season is your fave in IL and why?
Mine is fall. Love the temps, the colors, the smell of burning leaves, the pumpkin farms, the crisp nights. |

You're still allowed to burn leaves there? Cool! I like the Illinois falls, too. Though in Champaign there weren't many leaves to turn. We used to go to Turkey Run SP in Indiana to look at foliage.

Definitely fall. Spring is nice, but it lasts about a second a can be really wet and muddy. Right now though, right now spring is awesome!

Spring gets my vote. I get the fever. Love seeing the woods come alive. All the new and vivid colors. The smell of freshly cut grass, flowers. Especially the honeysuckle, my favorite.

Looks like fall is the most popular season so far, and for good reason!

Fall is beautiful but ya gotta love the birdsongs starting up again, the forsythia and lilacs blooming, everything going from grey to green and the good times of summer to look forward to. And knowing the snow isn't coming back for a long time. Also, sorry to knock Illinois' flatness since I know it's a touchy subject here, but fall colors can be appreciated better in the mountains or at least hills.

In Champaign, spring lasts about 10 days at best. That's why I like fall. The start of the new school year is always invigorating, as well as the weather after the hot, hot days of summer in Champaign. Also football season!

I vote for fall: changing of the leaves, the cool crisp evenings and wonderful sunsets, the anticipation of the Cubs in the playoffs...hey, why not this year?

I grew up in Illinois but have not lived there for many years. I visit regularly throughout the year and I must say that I miss the fall the most. I like the long season (relative to seasons in Colorado) of leaves turning brilliant colors, the cool evenings after the summer humidity has left the air, the smell of burning leaves. I miss fresh apple cider from a local orchard and fresh corn from a roadside stand – something that I have not enjoyed since I’ve lived there.
However, I still love returning every year in the fall to play TPC Deere Run for ½ price! ![]() |
