I saw billboards in northwest Indiana stating that several years ago.

Indiana already came up with that slogan years ago.
You’re late to the party.

I wouldn't be discouraged; if memory serves, both Newton and Leibniz invented the theorem of "calculus" independently, although I believe Newton got the credit for it.

Back to the drawing board - I'm sure there are still plenty of derogatory terms waiting to be applied to the Land of Lincoln. For example, How about "Land of Stinkin'"? I think "Mistake by the Lake" has already been taken by Cleveland or somebody (fair warning, so has "Chiraq").

I've heard "Killinois" used by rappers... mostly to refer to Chicago crime (In full "Chiraq, Killinois"). One could also say though "Killinois" can figuratively apply to the population being killed off from taxes and corruption

My sister was also from Wisconsin, and was known to repeat the joke,

"What's the difference between Cheeseheads and Chitheads?"

"The Illinois state line".
