High Speed Internet in Rockford (Chicago: job, home, company)

We are planning on moving to the Rockford area this summer. I will actually need to establish high speed internet service as soon as possible for my job.

Can anyone recommend any providers in the area?

Insight used to be the main player in the Rockford Area:

but Comcast has bought them out and they are now servicing most of the area:

Well pretty much your options are Comcast (which is alright but kind of expensive, DSL if you have a landline (I think naked DSL is available ), or there is a wireless company called T6.

Thats all there is in the rockford area? Isnt comcast just a repackaged charter? Was hoping for more variety since were moving to machesney park in a few weeks.

There might be Charter in Machesney, but do not expect good service from them

Just to follow up- Is there FIOS in the area? I tried to check with Verizon and I need to plug in either an address or phone number, of which I have neither. I did use an address of a high school located in Rockford which showed that there wasn't any FIOS service.

Actually Speakeasy is great for locations out of Chicago where service is unavailable or not reliable from the big companies. ITS offers them here Broadband Internet Access from ITS
