Question Knox Array in Champaign...are they good?

Hello:

I am looking for a career in the Champaign area and I'm interested in event planning. I found this company; Knox-Array. I see that they deal heavily with stage set up and all that jazz. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this company? Are the reputable? What exactly do they do? Would it be a good avenue to explore if I want to get into event planning? THANKS!

Knox Array isn't really an event planning company, per se. They do stage, sound and lights, so if you are looking to get into the technical aspect of things, they are a great company. F&G Sound is the same, but they have staff interested in planning their own special events, although the cities (especially Urbana) make it very hard to do so as a private company. Champaign-Urbana as a whole doesn't offer a whole lot in the way of event planning companies, because it is all done through the Champaign Park District, the City of Urbana/Urbana Business Association, or, of course, the University. If you are looking into getting into event planning I would first suggest looking at the University.

What kind of event planning are you interested in? I might be able to give you some tips/ideas on where to start looking.

Default anything PR/Communications related

Thanks for the reply. I figured they weren't much of an event planning deal after looking through their web site; the guy was just really interested in talking to me so I figured I would check it out. I just recently graduated with a degree in Public Relations so I am looking for anything in that field. I have been checking the university first and foremost since it's the largest employer but there aren't tons of options for my experience as everything wants 3-5 years. I haven't yet moved to Champaign so it's hard to know what's around that I could look into besides the university and hospitals. If you know of anything communication related I would much appreciate the tips; thanks again!
