For a roadtrip on a weekend. If a flight is involved then it is too far and does not count!

the question is, how far are you willing to drive? because I can get to my parents' house in Tenn. in 8 to 9 hours. if there's some other sort of limit i'd have to say Michigan because, well, I can still go to the Lake, and the rest of my family is there. I have no interest in Wisconsin or Indiana or the rest of Illinois, really. and I have no desire to ever step foot in Iowa.

Wisconsin, cause for us it is so easy to get in and out of. I love michigan. So pretty and family is there. But d*mn that commute over the Indiana border... can they Make it more painful?! I've hardly driven through there when there was not loads of traffic.

Michigan is my favorite, too. I grew up there and we actually have vacation property in the "middle of the mitten". The way I combat the traffic is by leaving on odd days/hours. This year won't be a problem for me since my husband is going to be away all summer (military training). We'll be heading up in late May and I don't plan on coming back to Illinois until October if I can help it.
We've also had wonderful times in Northern Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan. I feel blessed to be surrounded by all of the beauty. Here's to a summer of fishing, boating, swimming, biking, and hiking! |

WI and MI. I think MI is gorgeous, but sometimes a bit too far for a weekend getaway to where we like to go. WI is obviously alot closer and is very beautiful in spots as well. We travel to WI far more often than MI, but MI gets my vote as my fave getaway state.

Well, I am originally from the UK, married a US Air Force man 21 yrs ago this month, we have travelled quite a bit, hubby retired last year while stationed at Scott afb, we just LOOOOOOOOVE Illinois, we still own a house in Mascoutah, that we are trying desperately to get back too, unfortunately, hubbies job brought us here to Colorado (nr Denver) Every chance we get, we drive back to IL to visit friends/neighbors, my oldest son recently joined the Navy and is now in Hawaii, but our youngest (15) is miserable here and misses his friends in IL too, so, my answer to the question is, "our fave weekend roadtrip" is to dash back to IL. I think when we finally get back there for good, I won't ever want to leave again!!! tee hee!
