Some of the private schools are pretty good though. or Morton or Dunlap for sure. Morton is an easy commute to most places in Peoria b/c of the intersate (like 20 min tops). Dunlap can suck driving all the way through Peoria at rush hour. Morton actually has two private grade schools (k-8) that are great. (Catholic & Lutheran if you are ok with that) Morton is a town that kids can play in the neighborhood any time of the day or night and be fine. If i were to have children and live in this area my kids would go to Morton schools or private schools. Best of luck.
Wow! You didn't have to mention you were from Morton, your comments pretty much spoke for themselves. If you think Central & Woodruff are in the ghetto, you must not get out of the house very much. If you ever spent some time around the old south Chicago projects or drove through Detroit, you wouldn't throw that word around so easily. Peoria's worst streets are like Disneyland compared to the REAL ghettos in those cities.

Haha, I agree. Woodruff and Central are both pretty diverse and not "ghetto," although that term to your average Mortonite probably means any neighborhood or town where everybody on the street isn't lilywhite. You are correct, even the middle of the south side of Peoria is nowhere near as bad as even moderately bad neighborhoods on the south or west side of Chicago.

And that person claims to teach in 150. Scary.

Maybe it is worth a discussion for the next poster moving into the area.

Richwoods is very decent high school. My son graduated from Richwoods and died ten years lager. it that 10 years, he owned three businesses in Peoria, a home, ect.. My parents graduated from Peoria schools, too. I think painting Peoria or Peoria schools with a broad brush is a bit much.

I don't find a lot wrong with schools in Peoria Heights, Washington, Robein, Metamora, Dunlap, Bartonville, Morton or Lewistown or Havana for that matter either. I would not put any child in Pekin again, or Canton. I think East Peoria moves kids into new schools too often. .
