My yard is full of them. Anyone successful at getting rid of them? We are getting eaten alive! I have two small children so I'm concerned about chemicals. I can see them walking all over our lawn furniture. Any ideas from anyone that has successfully rid their lawn of them?

Citronella candles/tiki torches and keeping your yard trim helps.
Also, you can spray heavy foliage areas with soap that's used to clean fruits and veggies. This helps to kill off the larve. |

Chiggers are very tiny red bugs. Much worse than mosquito's because you don't realize they are "eating" you until the next day. It takes a while for the welts to appear. I should of taken a picture of my son's ankles from the other day, very bad. Luckily the mosquitos have not arrived yet. We have had a lot of rain and humidity.

Try to put SEVEN DUST 5% powder on your lawn. It is a bug kill thats used on vegetables. We put it on our horses legs and under manes to stop all those ticks and chigger bites. It works like a champ. It will rid of your ants, spiders and a total of 65 bugs. It's safe for humans and all pets.
Good Luck! |

If you get a bite I'd use clear finger nail polish. Also rubbing alcohol.

Once you start really itching the chiggers are no longer even biting you, theyre long gone, so it defeats the purpose. |

Thanks for pointing that out Steve. That's all I've ever heard to get rid of Chigger Bites. I guess I really couldn't tell ya then.
