News, Illinois Town Bans Window-Mounted Air Conditioners.
Addison, IL (AHN) - It will be a hot summer in this Chicago neighbor this year, not only because of the rising temperature but a ban on window-mounted air conditioner units.
The prohibition is the result of an ordinance approved by the village board in March. It specifically banned the installation of window-mounted air coolers on walls that face the street or in side windows 12 feet or less from the street.

Consider the source. Addison used to ban Hispanics.
Oh, ease up a little!

It's interesting that window AC units are perfectly fine for the exclusive vintage Co-Op buildings that line Lakeshore Drive and Park Avenue in New York, but not in the freaking Town of Addison?!? What a joke.

I sure hope somehow this can be challenged in court. I am not all gung-ho for lawsuits to solve a problem, but this law needs to be stricken.

What's the reasoning behind the ban? Unsightly? I mean, really...

How awful. You'd let a baby or an old person have a heat stroke 'cuz they look ugly? People should be ashamed.
Also, I haven't been here too long... did they really ban Hispanics or is that a joke?

So the town will look better but smell absolutely horrific when the bodies start dropping from heat stroke? I'm sure that will be a great attraction for others to move there.
