I don't know anyone there, but I feel like I need to make this move, so my Question is; how is it there?

Springfield is the state capitol. The population is around 100,000. It's in the middle of the corn and grain belt. The State Fair is in August and it's awesome. If you are a political animal you will love it. Springfield is midway between the Cubs and the Cardinals.. Illinois is the 5th most populated state. Regardless of what you are looking for, if you can't find it in Springfield or Peoria, you can find "it" in Chicago or St. Louis.
Abraham Lincoln, the President, is a big deal in Springfield and surrounding area. |

there are some really nice areas and some really horrible areas. It is a large city and does have it's fair share of crime, urban-blight-type areas. housing prices are relatively low compared to the suburbs of chicago.

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel you need to make the move - new job, family concerns? That might help in getting the info that you need to make your decision.
