Ah, just got back from Wisconsin with a trunkload of beer, cheese, thuringer, standard wine and fruit wine.

Or, you can send them as attachments. Just click on and upload it from your PC - this will show up as a link in your post.

I was reading through this post - caught my eye because there is a very tiny town in Indiana named Galena where my grandparents lived when I was about 2 or so - they ran an antique shop from an old barn they refurbished...the hay loft included a HUGE stained glass window, and the property itself was right next door to the cutest little icecream shop...

Anyway, reading your post has caused my mind to wander to the top ten things on my list to do before I die.

I want so badly to travel to Europe. My family is originally from Wales and France, and I know I still have relatives there.

Tell me, what brought you here, why did you choose to settle where you did, your cycling...do you race competively?

Sorry for all the questions, but other cultures fascinate me, and I sometimes feel so stifled for having never traveled far. Life has gotten in the way for 40 years, and so many things I have wanted to experience may forever elude me....the last office I worked in - there were two ladies from Russia. Their accent was thick, and I could sit for hours and listen to them. They taught me a few words (so I could blow off steam and curse without anyone knowing what I said - very funny at the time!!), but their traditions are fascinating. First introduced to TRUE Baklova with them. Delicious!

So nice to 'meet you'! Here I am in Kentucky, staring at the hills and knobs all my life, when there is so much more out there...have you ever been to Italy?
When did you come from Sarajevo?

Yes, I'm chatty, just so thrilled to talk to you.

Markablue,

Thank you for your info, I would be more then happy to do this, to share all the pictures in here, BUT, all my photos are in my Kodak folder/program, in my computer. I do not have a webpage. How do I do it, please explain exactly, step by step. The folder is on my desktop.
It would be my pleasure to share them with you

* Hands snowgirl a club cracker topped with a slice of cranberry cheddar & a slice of thuringer, and offers the option to wash it down with a bottle of Tyranena Rocky's Revenge Bourbon-Barrel Brown Ale or a glass of Wollersheim River Gold sweet white wine

Paxtonian will become famous soon enoughPaxtonian will become famous soon enough
I've never been to Door County, but I assume Paxton does not look like it. This is a Swedish town though. You ought to see the Swedish flags displayed on Market Street on June 6th (Flag Day, Sweden's national holiday). We also celebrate Saint Lucia Day. The local IGA sells many Swedish delicacies, as well as (my favorite!) Swedish potato sausages. We even have a small store that sells Swedish foods, goods and handicrafts.

...hi Kimmiey,
...first I would like to start with "baklava"...turkish sweet treat..love it...love it...love it...Sarajevo was the right place to enjoy such treats...over here in Naperville Illinois I am able to find them in Polish stores...not good enough but that's all right...
...Europe...another sweet "thing" to talk about...I am thinking a lot about "there"..."over the pond"...especially when I make one day trips to midwest towns, racing my bike or kayaking...
...war in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia brought me here...1995 ...to Chicago...and I can not thank America enough for giving me chance to enjoy life again...and I am doing that with a big smile on my face...
...my mother's side is from Italy, Torino (Turin)..you would love it there as well as France...Switzerland (Swiss), Osterrich (Austria)...ahhh...
..."staring at the hills and knobs"...nothing's wrong with that...if you know the right way to do it...and KY is a great state...I was in Louisville visiting friend from Croatia...
...ladies from Russia do not have a lot in common with baklava...but kaviar and piroshke would be different story...vodka too...
...I hope I did not touch limits of your patience writing this...
...thank you for your lines Kimmiey...
p.s.
...you could try writing letter to your relatives in France, something like..." ...dear cousin I miss you so much..."

It is so wonderful to read your words. I do love Kentucky - I am just ready to travel a bit - see new places. Very nice of you to write back, and your information keeps me on the edge of my seat - no patience required!

I am glad you were able to come here, too. I am very proud of our country for offering help and bringing people like you in. I am sure The state of Illinois is much better for having you around.

Vodka...yes - they could very well drink me under the table - as a glass of red wine will put me to sleep! Ha!

And I may just have to try and contact my relatives. THAT would be a wonderful thing to open my children to.

Thanks again for replying, and I wish you well. Very proud to have you here.
KimmieyKY
