Just curious if anyone has had Portillos shipped across country to friends? I have some family members in AZ that are dying to eat some Portillo's beefs, but I wonder if the quality is the same as buying it fresh from the store? Just wondering if anyone has shipped any cross-country and what the recipients thought of it. Thanks.

Steve-O, that was funny as hell. But just remember, what would Superman be without Lex Luthor?
portillo's is darn good, but johnnies beef on North Avenue in Elmwood Park is still number one in my book. The TSA guy frisking me at Phoenix airport 2 weeks ago was even asking me about it. Great while watching the Bears game. Get it juicy with hot peppers. then call your cardiologist. Al's is good downtown as well, I also like Buona beef |

Gosh what am I missing??? hmmmmmmmm Portillo's must be a chicagoland thingy. Us downstate folks must be missing out on something GOOD! LOL
But I will say I like white castles....and my proper downstate upbringing allows me to eat em and burp (actually belch) just like the fellow who likes fine dining. (smile) |

I had a Portillo's beef not to long ago (I don't eat them that often, something about their affect on the waistline), and wow, they are pretty good. Not being a beef connaisseur, I don't really have a strong opinion on 'the best' like a lot of the locals do. All I know is that if I ever leave I'll miss them sorely as they don't seem to be available anywhere else in a way that is edible (even if I only eat them a few times a year).
...and there is room on my palet for a beef and a good resturant (don't get me started on resturants, my BIL is a French chef, and I am a huge foodie). |

I am pretty sure they ship it the same way they receive it, so it should still taste great. I'm leaving Illinois soon and I know that is the big thing I will miss (Portillos)

I had to bring this thread back up cause I dearly miss Portillos!!! The one bad thing of going to college out of state!!! I must say, this mail order service has gotta be one of the best services ever. I could totally go for some Italian Beef, a Chili Cheese Dog, or a Chocolate Cake Shake. I know this is very non-Chicago like, but i usually dont go for the traditional Chicago style hot dog
Does anyone know if Bernouli's is included with the Portillos mail order service?? |

I live in Sacramento and had viennabeef.com send out beefs and hot dogs for the Super Bowl. I'm not kidding when I say that they were the best beefs I've ever had. Yes, it could have been because I was in Cali, but just warming up the beef in the gravy yourself makes for very tender beef and the giardinaria was excellent too. |

its Barnelli's not Barnouli's. they dont send out the same way that portillos does. and for those of you out of state, go to portillos.com and choose shipping and click order now. the food will ship same condition as you got it in: DELICIOUS

A friend recently sent us a carton of the beef as a thank you. We made it per the Portillo's instructions and it tasted just like in the restaurant. It even comes with the sweet pepper and gardinier. They give you a lot, a family of 4 ate at least two meals off of it.
I would recommend. |
