I went to high school in Jacksonville, IL in the late 60's. Does anyone remember Spatz Ice Cream?

I've only lived in this area 10 years but my wife who is from the area remembers Spatz. She said it was a very good ice cream place and was missed by a lot of people when it closed. |

Probender, Thanks. I worked at the one off the square when I was 16 and another one was opened in a house off of the main street going south out of Jacksonville(if I remember right). I left the area in 1971. Does she remember when it closed? At the one off the square (again if my memory is correct) the ice cream was made in the basement. The son ran that one and his father opened the one (out of a refurbished) house.

Spatz's was great! I still remember their chocolate frosted malts. I can't remember when they closed, but it is still the best ice cream place I have ever been.
