Ok Illinois K-12 public school administrators, it is time for a big change. As taxpayers being the majority, of monies that are supposed to be being taken and put towards ACADEMICS, ARTS, MUSIC, 4-H, etc......., they are not being used correctly, adequately, or fairly among all the students. Most of it goes right into the sports. Imagine that!! Yes, administrations are the guilty parties for letting this happen under their watch as a huge educator. They are authorizing payments to sports programs, such as IHSA, etc....., to dicctate to us parents and our children that they are not worthy of P_L_A_Y!!!! Of course they are ALL worthy of P-L-A-Y. IF this is what keeps students happy and in school than why wouldn't we, as Americans, offer it to EVERY CHILD!?! Wake Up USA and Start Parenting your children. Put the sports into the communities for various positives for everyone. First of all, maybe our children would get an ACADEMIC education at school. Second, the sports are open to EVERY CHILD. THird, the communities gain "the power of parents" and a lot of movement, which is sure to detour criminalization in communities because it would be much harder for a criminal to hide or criminalize with so many people moving around all the time for their favorite sport that day and maybe that evening at a different one. Not to mention the elderly could plan on games too. They like to sit out and watch games and meet the people and children of their community. They feel safer that way, as they should be able to. Fourth, Even the non players would be more likely to come and hang out in this structured and disciplined area just because that is where the happenings, families, friends, classmates, etc.....,are at. One of the more important parts of this, is the huge price of monies it takes to keep the sports in k-12 public schools, that is heavily taking away from the teaching of the ACADEMICS, ARTS AND MUSIC parts of the education. That monies needs to go towards MORE ACADEMIC TEACHERS not coaches. The communities would actually make revenue for the community. And if you are thinking that parents cannot do this, then you are very wrong. Who do think is doing it now>>>>parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc...........so see there is no special God for sports. It would be great fun for quality family times. Fifth, the seperation sports cause in k-12 public schools is way wrong. How can you tell 15 of them, that they are the only ones good enough to play out of 1500?!? Give me a break. That is just ludicrist. If a child is good enough at a sport, than they will probably be scouted by the colleges. It is the colleges who give the scholarships for sports in k-12 public schools, not the schools themselves. So it would not interfere with that part of it. Depending on the community rules, some students may get to do more than one sport at a time if they wish, without recourse, beings there would probably be enough players at all times. This is supposed to be for fun. College is for serious. Pro sports is where the money is. I would rather my child focus on another passion as far as ACADEMICALLY as well, not just sports. 9 times out of 10, in college they end up doing something entirely different than sports. Which is ok too. I am a sports mom of 10 years, and I love to watch the kids play. NOt football though, that is too dangerous for bones and muscles that are not completely and fully developed. Ok, well, I hope this opens some eyes as to what is going on in the classrooms and fields. Thanks for listening.
![]() Bottom line, put the sports into the communities and out of k-12 public schools and put the monies back into the ACADEMICS and let EVERY CHILD P-L-A-Y!!!! |

Well I couldn't get too far before I felt like my head was going to explode, but it sounds like the premise is that education resources are misallocated. And then he inadvertently offers up his own post as Exhibit A.

Hey AaronK, you are so right and I do apologize for that. It bugs me when people do that and a lot of other things too. Such as the word "an". That and the letter "a" are so misused now-a-days.
![]() Well so anyway, do you have anything to say about the rearrangeing of sports. I would really like to hear some rational opinions on this matter. I am on somewhat of a mission to get this pushed through all 50 states. Yes, I know, it is a big push, but someone needs to do it. I can't believe the way children are treated in the way of P-L-A-Y, for their schools. There is so much more talent out there in the majority. Studys say the majority are the ones who usually stay in that community to live. So it makes good sense to see what they have to bring to the table for themselves as far as ACADEMICALLY, and in their sports. ![]() Nice talkin to ya. Til next time ![]() |

Your sounds are correct, but it is not only one school, it is almost all of them in the United States of America. There are a few k-12 public schools that do not have their sports affiliated with the schools. It is strictly community. They say it works out great. No, sports do not keep kids in school. At the very most, all they do is cause a lot seperation within the school, with students, teachers, coaches, staff, and administration, oh and don't forget parents. That is just too much tension in schools. Schools are supposed to be about learning how to read and write and physical education, and personal health, etc.....not how far just 15 kids out of 1500 can kick a ball, with the same monies that taxpayers pay in for solid ACADEMIC EDUCATIONS. This has got to change. We have college kids paying for k-12 kids learning when they can't even afford their own. Does all of this sound right to you? It sounds very wrong to me when all you see is violence and criminalization and kids with no respect for anything or anybody, including themselves. We need to revamp a few things in the educational field. Wouldn't you agree? Well thanks for listening anyway. So, I gather you are not an Illinoisan?? If you are then maybe you could help me with my inadvertent Exibit A. This is exactly what I am talking about. Noone wants to help one another anymore, they just want to judge and put them down. It has got to stop. We are better than that as human beings. I was just wondering if you had anything to add to the table on this matter?? I learn from all the different opinions. Ok, well you have a good day and I will check back here. THanks for listening. ![]() |

Ok Dover, I went back and looked. I am from Chicago. I was born in the heart. St. Mary's Resurection Hospital. It burned down many years ago. Are you from Chicago or do you just live there?? I was also wondering if you have school age children? I am a sports mom of 10 years. Medals,trophys,awards,letters,plaques,etc.... Starter in everything he did. I had to demand some coaches to take mine out and let one of the others play too. I know that sounds cruel to my own child, but that is how he wanted it. He didn't like to see his classmates sit on a bench the entire time. My son is full of sportmanship. He made friends out of all the teams he ever played, even at State for two years in a row for track. So this is what has lead me to my ideas, and pushing them hard.
Our schools need help. One way to help would be to move the sports to the communities, for various positive reasons. One good one would be the monies for ACADEMICS. We really do need rocket scientists. Especially now. Sports in k-12 public schools do not make for good studying habits. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite. Ok, Dover, pleasure to talk to you, have a great day. ![]() |
