Everyone should go at least once to the 'Maxwell Street' flea market at Roosevelt and Canal on Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm. There is nothing like it.l

um yea, except for the original. that is before the city of chicago came in, kicked everybody out, razed a few square blocks, handed it all over to the UIC, and then recreated a faux disneyfied version that suburbanites would feel safe going to.

I'm just grateful the 'Maxwell Street' market still exists. I guess we have to use what we have. It remains pretty authentically weird, in my opinion.

I'd say Galena is a nice, quaint place to visit...Navy Pier in Chicago is also a great place.

Going to maxwell street is one of my fond childhood memories. My father would take me there on the weekends. Gosh I loved that place.
I moved away from Illiniois 27 years ago and I miss it terribly. Each summer I would take my four children there to visit our family. Two have moved back to the Chicago area now after being born and raised in Florida. I am going to send them both this thread.
Thank you all for all of your efforts in posting in this thread. You have brought back some wonderful memories.
