Moving to Henry, Il
I am considering moving to Henry Il. I am a dog groomer and would also be starting up a new grooming business there. (which the town could use) Anybody know what life in Henry is like? Sure looks like a nice little town, is it any good?

Don't know about Henry but I have some friends that live in Lacon and love it there. I would guess the location of your house would be important. As with most river towns some of it may be underwater in rainy season. It is in one of the more scenic areas of Illinois.

henry
Hi
I grew up in Peoria(about 40 miles from henry) and my grandma lives in henry so I am very familiar with the town. It is a typical small town in illinois. Very laid back, very low crime, farmland surrounding it. It is built on the illinois river and has a small marina. However, there are not many businesses in henry and many small businesses have come and gone. The town's population is small enough that I think it is hard to support a business. Many young people leave because there is just not many jobs. The advantage for you is that there are not many other towns near it(other than lacon)- the next closest is 15-20 minutes, so a dog grooming business may work. Good luck. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Henry, il
Hi i am 20 and grew up in henry and am currently going to school at the u of i. Henry has around 2,600 people supported mainly by farming and jobs out of caterpiller in peoria. The closest walmart is 30 min away, but the opportunities for a groomer is growing. I know many people that get their dogs groomed around the area, (one person has 3 newfoundlands) and they have to run 45 min away to get it done. I think you could build a business, but it would def. Be slow at first.
Let me know how it works and i can spread the word if u decide its for you

I've passed thru Henry while visiting my dad when he lived in Lacon. It's a pretty river town.
If it didn't have that white stuff on the ground in the winter, I'd consider moving there. My dad wants me to move to Lacon but I think he just wants to unload his house on me. lol.

Been there about 2 years ago in Late Summer. I was driving to Peoria via I-180 & IL-29. That town is like an oaisis in the middle of nowhere, a welcome site.
