Chuckle. Comments by Skapov. Actually, there is a latino population in Chatham, African Americans, also community members from India, Asia, Greece. There is a range of housing from older mobile homes to million dollar homes in the school district. yes, I agree, there's been white flight from Springfield to Chatham. But Chatham is not a 100% caucasian community - just visit the local grocery, Ace hardware or local school. It is very Republican. Fortunately, there are other influences, including U of IL at Spfld and the community college close by.

I don't know about the racial element, but I can attest to experiencing the same type of snobbery from people who I worked with in Springfield who wouldn't lower themselves to actually live or send their kids to school in town. I have friends that live there and my mother-in-law now lives there, so i'm not just pulling opinions out of my butt.

But since this thread is six months old I doubt the OP is going to be using this info!
