I dont believe there is anything close to the resort. The resort is way up on Blackjack Road up in the hills. There's nothing up there but some homes and the resort. Youll have to stay at any hotel you choose down in Galena. Oh, and if its snowing when you go, make sure you have a 4X4 to get up Blackjack Road to the resort.

I never been to Galena, but the main street have a European look to it. The town looks unique from the rest of Illinois since it have hills.

I went in late September and stayed Mon, Tues, so it was cheaper, but I also went to the Tripadvisor website and I either booked through that website or followed the link to Expedia, I don't really remember now.
Steve-O is right though, Chestnut Mountain is not near the downtown, and there is no other hotel directly nearby. It's the same thing with Eagle Ridge Golf Resort.
Five years ago I stayed at the View Motel in Elizabeth. It was your standard one story motel with about 30 rooms, but it was very clean and cheap. Here is a link if anyone wants something cheaper:
The View Motel (Elizabeth, IL) - Motel Reviews - TripAdvisor
It's about 10 miles outside of downtown, but except for the B and B's, none of the hotels are walkable anyway.

I have been a resident of Galena for the last 12 years and will be happy to answer any questions I can about our town.

Steve, I don't know why your browser wasn't showing them.
When lightheartedgrin posted the pictures on 12-22 @ 9:05 P.M. they were indeed visible to me. I would check your settings et cetera.
