Illinois High School Football-HELP!!
Hi,
My family is moving from Mid Missouri to the Illinois area do to my husband being relocated.
There are few different towns we have to choose from, obviously we care about what kind of town it is, and how the school system is, but I have 2 high school boys who play football.
One will be a Senior who plays QB & F.S. the other will be a Sophmore who plays Full Back & Outside Linebacker, my youngest son plays Junior Football.
My oldest has been looked at by a few colleges, so I liked to look at a high school with a good football record and a good quality coach who knows what he's doing, and takes care of his players!
I would appreciate any and all Help you can give us on any of the above.
The towns we have to choose from are Litchfield, Hillsboro, Gillespie, and Greenville Illinois.
I appreciate any help or advice,
Thanks,
Angela

I would concentrate on teams that made an apperance at the state championships in the last three years. IHSA Boys Football Champions and Runners-Up

Hillsboro probably has the best program, but none are that good...

check out info on the IHSA website. that would be a good source. Having a son who plays qb and coming in as a senior, would be pretty tough. most schools probably wouldn't make the switch unless the kid was astounding. It would really be important to be in place and be ready to do all of the summer 7 on 7's etc. and any camps that the coaches would be running over the summer. good luck!

Thanks for the info. we do plan on making the move with in the next month or two so my boys will be there for the 2 a days, the summer camps, work outs etc..
I realize it's going to be hard for my son going in as a Senior, he has been at his current school since 1st grade, but if we arrive before the season begins, and the coach is willing play the best on the team I think he will be able to earn his position.
Thank you very much for advice and the links.

Hillsboro would be the best of your choices. Plus, Souther IL. University is just down the interstate in Carbondale. Wherever you go I would take tapes of your sons prior games and meet with the A.D. and head football coach of that school so that they know who he is and what he can do before season starts.

Not wanting to take anything away from those communities or thier schools/athletics---but if football is one of your big decision factors i would look around a little more. Those towns are not that far from a few of the better football schools.
Auburn is a little over 30 minutes farther north.

For football...the closer to chicago the better the program. Litchfield is 3.5 hours away, the rest im sure are in the area, and from what i remember about HS football, it was how much money the family donated to the program determines who got to play QB, so good luck with that.

Tell that to Sacred Heart Griffin and East St. Louis
