Frankfurt isn't really far from where we live, we live in Stuttgart Germany right now but will be leaving here shortly!! Congrats on the newborn baby!!Hopefully she will teach the baby German as well!

If you haven't moved already, check out Galena (or Galeana) IL.
I think it's about 25 minutes from Mt. Carroll. MC is nice, but there isn't a whole lot available. Galena is this small town; very comfortable.

You'll love it. We lived in savanna in the 1980 for a few years and then in the Galena - Stockton area in the late 90s for several years. My husband worked at the Savanna Army Depo. and we were then transferred to Oklahoma. I miss that area, it has some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I raised my children I guess a total of 6 or 7 years in that area. It has many pluses for family. I am not sure about jobs, you might have to travel to Freeport, Rockford, Clinton for jobs.
Been looking at land in the Hanover area up by Chestnut Mountain for retirement.
