If you haven't moved already, check out Galena (or Galeana) IL.
I think it's about 25 minutes from Mt. Carroll. MC is nice, but there isn't a whole lot available. Galena is this small town; very comfortable. |

You'll love it. We lived in savanna in the 1980 for a few years and then in the Galena - Stockton area in the late 90s for several years. My husband worked at the Savanna Army Depo. and we were then transferred to Oklahoma. I miss that area, it has some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I raised my children I guess a total of 6 or 7 years in that area. It has many pluses for family. I am not sure about jobs, you might have to travel to Freeport, Rockford, Clinton for jobs.
Been looking at land in the Hanover area up by Chestnut Mountain for retirement. |
