is there a website where i can check the status of my state refund check. My accountant said 4-6 weeks, and i am going on week 7.

I agree..direct deposit..and the e-file, had our state and fed refunds in less than 2wks.

I got my Fed return in 6 days and my Illinois return in 5 days

Using an accountant for Illinois income tax is an utter waste. The tax is simply your Federal adjusted gross times .03, with a very few minor adjustments allowed. The state efile site is free and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Hell, I quit even using Turbotax for state awhile ago (yes, I'm lazy and use Turbotax for Federal) because it is so straightforward. I'd filed via the state website a few days ago. It was a piece of cake.

Last year I did the same thing, and got my pittance of a refund in less than a week (I suppose it is a good thing that I get a small refund, I'd hate to think that I'm giving the state of Illinois an interest free loan on my own income ).

If your sole income is your salary, the withholding comes very close to the final bill. My refund is usually single digits, so I donate it to the prostate cancer fund.
