Hispanics in Woodford county/tazwell county
We are relocating as well from Iroquois county (gliman/onarga area) and I was wondering which areas of woodford and tazwell counties had hispanics in them, reading city data says most only have 1% in most towns, and we are looking to stay in areas such as eureka and such, we are a sort of biracial family too (mexican and white) and we dont want our kids to have any problems you know, its different we were in chicago no problems, and we are here where there is alot of hispanics and no problems, we would just like a town that we can feel comfortable in, (i just want my kids to feel safe i know how some people can be racist and say on no theres mexcians moving in) just trying to avoid that thanks in advance

I spent most of my many years in Tazewell county, including a stint in Eureka. It is not racially diverse and never has been. Nor is Eureka or the county particulary progessive. Eureka is an old farm town whose only claim to fame is the college where President Ronald Reagan played sports and graduated with a double major. It is what it is. Ya gets pot luck here. Take your chances.
The two areas I know that do have a diverse cultural community are Peoria and Havana. Both towns have biracial families. Havana is much smaller, but the town and the parents support the kids and the schools. It is a good thing. I think we grow a pretty good crop of kids that are respectful. They never get into too much trouble. Havana kids are pretty safe as a whole anywhere in the city. There are a lot of school actiivites, river front park, swimming pool, galf, bowling, hiking, hunting, finshing, water sports, etc. The town was scheduled to open a waterpark until the economy tanked. The next closest waterpark is in Springfield.
Peoria has had a hispanic populaton for at least 25 years. Peoria also has a religous community that is diverse as Chicago. If you live in Peoria, the safest neighborhoods are in Peoria and Peoria Heights anywhere north of US 150 - also called War Memorial Drive.
If you are seriously worried about your kids, come on down to Havana. Our biracial families have kids that range in age from 2nd to 11th grade.

Beardstown has a large Hispanic population, apparently almost 20% according to the census. I've never been there but I get the impression, however, that it's a rather rough town. It has about 6,000 people.

My wife was born and raised in Mexico DF. I was born and raised in Rockford IL. We have lived in Germantown Hills for the last 3 years. Our boys are getting a great education at District 69 schools. The people here are great. Good luck
