Parking
We have been trying to figure out if it is legal or ilegal to ark directly behind some ones driveway. I have heard it is illegal and one can be ticketed for this. Does any one know about this? (I live in Madison County, IL)

Do not block access to any driveway. You will get a ticket and your vehicle might be towed,

It is illegal to park in front of a private driveway if you block access to that driveway (I'm assuming you mean parking on the same side of the street that the driveway is on). If do this anywhere that's large enough to have a police force you could be ticketed (and even towed).

Use common sense. You should not block entrance or exit to a driveway. When the guy inside the building dies because help can't get to him, (you blocked the driveway) do you really believe you will only get a $5 parking ticket?
How about second degree involuntary manslaughter? You really didn't mean to kill him but you blocked his driveway anyway - even though you knew it was wrong.

Some clarification is needed. When you say directly behind, do you mean across the street from or blocking the actual driveway? Big difference. The former can be a pain to the person backing out, but legal. The latter makes it impossible to back out. Of course, if it is your own driveway and you don't complain to the polica about your own parking, it shouldn't be an issue.
However, if an officer drives by, they may possibly ticket you anyway. Call the local police and ask. Don't rely upon the internet for anything but wrong answers....

I beg to differ. If there is a fire on your property or someone else's and the fire department would get a better angle at the fire from your driveway it is an issue if they cannot get in.
I would say you can get a ticket if you are blocking your own driveway. It all depends if the local police department is ticket happy or if the blocking of the driveway obstructed public safety from addressing an emergency.

I was talking about parking directly across the street from a driveway. This also blocks the driveway. You can not back out without almost hitting the parked car. I have heard it is illegal but I wanted to make sure.
